Steven was one of Carolina's finest
He was proud to wear the badge

Steven was a beat cop down in Charleston
From the Meeting Street extension to the city market lights
He knew the freaks out on every corner
And the rats in every crevice, he knew where to find
And he held his gun with the right kind of confidence
When the sirens started crying and the night was feeling tight
And sometimes his wife would have a hard time sleeping
Cause she knew her man was out there somewhere keeping rule in the night

It was late on a Thursday when he was called to action
A robbery in progress
He was the first on site

For the life that he had given to uphold what was right
